What is an E-check?
E-check is a simpler, easier and more secure payment solution enabling businesses and individuals to receive payments via a "Digital Check".
When you receive an E-check, you don't need to sign-up for any service, download any app or pay any fees to receive payments.
Digital Checks can be deposited and cashed online after instantly verifying your banking credentials with one of checkboo.io's partner banks.
Checkbook's Digital Checks are valid in all 50 States in the United States and for 100% of the banks and credit unions. Checkbook can make a transaction to any account as long as it has a routing and account number and supports Check21 and/or ACH transactions.
How long does it take to receive your E-check?
You will receive your payment as early as 2 days to as late as 14 days from the day you worked on.
The actual time depends on various factors, such as the type of work and the speed at which a partner production company Castifi for their production.
How to deposit a Digital Check online
Step 1: Find your Check email (sent from firstname.lastname@example.org)
Your Digital Check arrives over email and can be found by searching your inbox for emails from email@example.com.
Step 2: Verify a phone number
Choose whether you are depositing to a personal or a business account
Verify a phone number through SMS or Call options with a code.
Step 3: Link a deposit bank account:
You can either verify your bank manually, or instantly.
Once bank verification is complete, your funds are on their way. Once a Check is deposited online, all future deposits are made automatically. You will receive a confirmation notification for your future deposits, and no action is needed from you to get the funds.
What other ways can I deposit my Digital Check?
You can deposit and cash your Digital Check using alternate methods other than "Deposit Online"
- Print the check and physically present it to a bank teller.
- Print the check and deposit it at an ATM.
- Deposit your check via mobile deposit by choosing the "Mobile Deposit" option. Simply take a picture of the check on your screen with a pink background.
- Request a physical check sent by mail (see this tutorial)
Your printed check is still a valid check despite printing it at home. Specifically, FDIC says: "A substitute check is a high-quality paper reproduction of both sides of the original check. A substitute check is a legal equivalent of the original check."
Keep in mind that once you print the check - it can no longer be deposited online.
How do I verify my bank?
You can verify your bank instantly if you have an account with one of our partnered banks. Start typing the name on your bank to find it through a drop-down menu.
Enter your online banking Username and Password, our system will verify your bank instantly and securely.
Once your bank has been verified, you are all set to send and receive checks!
If you are not comfortable entering your online banking Username and Password, or if your bank is not listed, use manual verification instead. Simply enter your Routing and Account number.
The funds are on their way!
How long does it take to receive funds?
You will receive the funds as early as overnight to as late as the 4th business day after you have deposited the Digital Check online.
The actual time depends on the Payor/Originator of the Digital Check i.e. whether they are an individual or a business and other factors.
When you Deposit the Digital Check online, checkbook.io will tell you exactly when you'll receive the funds. In general, they are moving towards an overnight settlement
How to update your banking information
Whether you are responding to a credit return or just want to change where future payments will be deposited, these simple steps will help guide you through it!
1. If you haven’t already, please create a password for your account at https://checkbook.io/reset
2. Sign in using your new or existing password and go into settings.
3. From settings click the “accounts” tab, then “add account”
4. Add a new bank account using manual or instant verification.
For manual verification users: If you plan to only receive checks and not send them, contact us using the chat feature on our website or by emailing firstname.lastname@example.org to let us know and we can verify your account instantly as "deposit only"
If you are fixing a return, contact us using the chat feature on our website or by emailing email@example.com to let us know a new account has been added. We will then redirect the credits to your newly added account.
